My first of what may be many letters to
the governor of Texas, this one last year: December 31, 1999 Gov. George W. Bush Dear Mr. Bush: In case I haven't appeared on your radar yet, this letter should change that. I am one unhappy Texan! The enclosed copy of a letter which accompanied my recent complaint, filed with the U.S. Department of Justice goes into fuller detail as to WHY I am unhappy. Let it be known that I think you have a sorry record in administering the delivery of services to the disabled in Texas, and in the enforcement of Federal laws under the A.D.A., the U.S. Supreme Court decision in Olmstead v. L.C. & E.W., not to mention the fact that Texas has the largest number of homeless U.S. Veterans in America, right behind California and New York states, and is NUMBER TWO IN HUNGER IN THE U.S. PER A U.S.D.A. REPORT with one million hungry families or 5% of the State's population! Now I happen to think good presidential material is the man or woman who acknowledges real problems and works to achieve positive change. All you seem to do is ignore or deny real problems! Since I couldn't get a job with a search warrant, no one can fire me for telling the truth about you and your record. So, I've taken the time not only to communicate my displeasure over the NON-delivery of services in this State to my representatives and appropriate Federal entities. I have also emailed every State newspaper with these remarks, and many Democratic chapters which are online, and I have only begun to publicize your record in Texas! As an old woman in Berkenstocks, I am NO match for you when it comes to power, position or money. But when it comes to brains, you've met your match. You lie. I truth-tell. Now there are two ways you can shut me up: a) kill or maime me (and I become a martyr) or b) take a little time off the campaign trail and effect positive, prompt changes in Texas in the delivery of human services (and you become a hero). You also still have time to rectify your record on the delivery of human services if you are serious about seeking higher office. Yours truly, [TOP] [Back to Letters] [HOME]
