An VERY important site to use for keeping up with Texas disability legislation (bills passed in the last session, those not signed, etc.) and much more can be found at the Advocacy, Inc. website.   They have lawyers available for filing selected lawsuits, and can help parents advocate at ARD meetings for improvements in their disabled people's eductional setting.

For political satire and humor even MORE pointed than my own "gallows" humor, check out Beyond Blonde's funnies  at: http://www.beyondblonde.com/politicalhumor.html

There is a great collection of Disability Links at the Shilo site, for advocacy, support, resources, defense, law, research and more.

Attorneys:

Think you need a lawyer to advocate for you to get Social Security for a disabled person or other problems in obtaining services?  The following can be recommended:

Jacquie Brennan
Brennan & Associates
2402 Commonwealth
Houston, Texas 77006
713-522-1211
Fax 713-522-2940

Jacquie adopted some disabled children, in addition to her own brood, and was prompted to go to law school in her "middle years" after running into many road blocks in advocating for the handicapped and their rights.  Ms. Brennan does a lot of ADA and school law, with a special interest in disability issues.  The firm is a full service law firm.
