Contact Politicians:

U.S. Congress -- Washington, D.C.

Rather than re-invent the wheel, let me direct you right to a dandy site, useful nationwide, for contacting your duly elected in the Nation's capitol:

http://congress.org

This site, promoting "e-Democracy", is chock full of all you need to know, right at your fingertips (or a mouse click), for current information on important, pending legislation, a scorecard to see how your duly voted, and a "search and email" function to help you find and communicate with your dulies!   That is, assuming he or she has dragged both feet into the almost 21st century -- Henry Bonilla, MY duly, did not accept email at this writing!  Tsk, tsk.

You've cleaned out the garage, scrubbed the toilet and done all the laundry for a month -- out of anything to do?   Why not write the lame-duck in the White House at:
http://www.whitehouse.gov/WH/Mail/html/Mail_President.html.   Or, you can just pay the people's home a visit by going to:  http://www.whitehouse.gov -- check out the links offered for "using" or accessing government services.  And good luck.

Texas' Duly Elected:

I don't think any of the websites put up by the State of Texas are particularly user-friendly OR informative, unless you dig around a LOT, like to use adobe acrobat reader and enjoy unzipping files.  But, the info is THERE for those who will perservere!

At the Governor's site, you'll find a lotta fluff, much pandering to the Hispanic vote AND, if you use the "quick links" you can get to Bush's $96.4 Billion dollar state budget.  It looks real good 'til you figure out what all he is NOT doing with all that pile of money!

To try and keep tabs on the Texas Legislature site, last revised 13 Aug 99 at this writing, you can visit this site. Assuming you didn't take, or flunked high school civics, this site will be enlightening.  If your I.Q. is higher than room temperature, it will frustrate the dickens out of you, as it is NOT all that educational, but be intrepid and you can find out all about your duly electeds, how to contact them, and access some legislative resources.  You can also search State legislation here and get into Texas Statutes.
