Re: Jan 24th Iowa caucus

Your voters might be interested in the following data re: the 'job' George W. Bush has done to/in Texas. Not only are we ranked the second-hungriest state (l million Texans are hungry, or 5% of families) in the country, per a recent USDA report, much more needs to be done to provide adequate shelter (l5,000 homeless U.S. Veterans alone) and care for the disabled.

Bush's $96.4 Billion dollar state budget for 2000-2001 includes $63.2 million from the State's $l.8 Billion Tobacco Settlement funds to provide "new generation drugs" for mentally retarded/disabled, at a cost of $600.00 per month (or 8777 drugged clients) but he found only enough funding for 590 new HCS (a less restrictive environment for housing/community services than nursing home or an IC-FMR at an estimated cost of $75.00 to $ll4.00) slots.

Thus, Texas now will house 5,440 disabled/retarded clients vs. 4,850 cared for in 1999, leaving 10,000 (State Dept. of Mental Health/Mental Retardation data) to 30,000 (Liberty Resources data) in need!

In my part of Texas, my disabled child is number 132 on the HCS wait list, which is a sixty-six year long wait at the pace it moved the previous two years. She will be age 83 and I would be 122 years old when her "opening" comes up at this rate!

Now this is the job Bubba Bush has done for Texans in need. They deserve better, and America certainly deserves better! Unless voters in your state want Bush doing to the nation what he's done to Texas, DON'T VOTE FOR HIM!
